Hello, La-la-land! Saying that I’m excited is an understatement. It’s our first time in Los Angeles and there’s so much to explore! Having come from a long 18 hour flight, a good and restful sleep was much needed so we scooted straight into Sofitel Los Angeles after touching down.

The Sofitel was founded in France and every hotel in the chain brings together characteristics of its French roots and local American refinement. Situated on the corner of Beverly Boulevard is a hotel that’s not just a hotel. The glamour of Hollywood is exquisitely embodied in every detail and a French flair given off in each corner. Stepping into the lobby, we were greeted instantly by an avant-garde painting, huge abstract structure and dramatic spiral staircase, reinforcing the city’s strong art culture. And our rooms – minimalistic with an impeccable view from the balcony – it’s like staying in a villa down south of France.

Most importantly, the room and bathroom were spacious and the bed was just heavenly. Their sleep system SoBed is apparently trademarked, that’s how good it is, and will guarantee a good night’s sleep. Imagine lying in a cloud, that’s how it feels like.

We managed to rest up a little before heading out.

You know me, I’m such a foodie at heart and staying in Los Angeles’ prominent foodie destination, how could I miss out! Right here in Sofitel is one restaurant that we hear offers celeb sightings if you’re lucky enough. This summer however, the hotel’s main restaurant Estérel is taking a break from the French Chic menu. Before brunch hours, Estérel serves up some fine French press coffee, pastries and everything one loves having for breakfast. When noon comes around, the restaurant is overtaken by Cattle & Claw, a pop-up eatery that’s just dropped in West Hollywood and delivering the best of SoCal.

Bringing together lobsters and burgers, you can really get the best of both worlds!
P.s/ Go with a friend or a group, so that you can have a taste of all their signatures.

The spread was amazing. And what’s unique is the Lobster Bloody Mary, which is their specialty drink! (insert food info)

The atmosphere is so laid back and truly delivers the casual summer vibes of California. Take a seat in the cosy outdoor patio and enjoy a remarkable surf and turf experience.

I predict we’ll be eating our hearts out this trip, so we made full use of the hotel’s facilities and headed off to SoFit a.k.a. the gym! It’s touted as the largest hotel fitness centre in Los Angeles and has various gym equipments for the gym junkies. There is even an outdoor pool which allows you to soak in the Californian sunshine. The pool is also heated but I figure they only turn it on in the colder months, so you can still get a swim in December/January. The city views from up there are also amazing!

I would have loved to try the onsite spa SoSpa as I’ve heard plenty about the wonderful massages there (a little birdy mentioned hot chocolate scrub hmm…), but it’s a shame our itinerary didn’t allow for it.

If you’re looking for retail therapy then you’ve come to the right hotel. Sofitel is located just opposite Beverly Center (the mall in Totally Spies, is anyone with me?) and in the vicinity of Robertson Boulevard and West 3rd Street if you prefer a stroll down the trendy shops. Go shop till you drop. Sunset strip is a mile away and Joan’s on Third is merely a 10 minute walk. You have to grab a cuppa there if you pass by!

All in all, our stay at Sofitel Los Angeles was magnifique and allowed us to explore the city really easily. We wish we could have stayed on longer but there are other cities and sights to explore. We will still be in Los Angeles for a while more and I can’t wait to explore so I can share my travelogue with you!
