This Chinese New Year, I decided to add a twist to my lookbook shoot by including Noah and James. Dressing up as a family in complementing looks is not just fun but it is a sure way to “identify” yourselves as one. While I could swear that I was never “family outfits” per se, I found myself accidentally fallen into the “trap” of going all out with the matching family look, because there were just so many brands that started producing the cutest family outfits.
I decided to feature a variety of “styles” in this lookbook set so that would be something catered for everyone. If you’re into the cheongsams and mandarin collars, I featured an outfit that went full-on oriental. We even made a trip to Chinatown to get James and Noah a “traditional” outfit. I say that Chinatown is the best place to get something at an affordable price. After all, you’ll likely not going to be recycling this look, so don’t invest too much in it.
I also put together a set that is a little more contemporary, like safe basic pieces for the guys and a simple solid coloured Cheong sam for myself.
If you’re keen to go all 100% matchy, lepetitsociety has got some pretty nice options for family matching looks.
Lovebonito also launched a mini capsule collection for kids with the most gorgeous prints. I got myself a matching mama-son set to wear with Noah.
Most of my accessories are from Pomelo Fashion. I love the range of festive pieces they offer which are definitely a bang for the buck.
Ushering in the year of the rat, Mango had some really cute Mickey Mouse graphic tees which I thought were fun and eye-catching. I got Noah a little matching Mickey Tshirt from Cotton On!
