Deck The Hallways

Home & Living, Lifestyle

Every December, James and I wreck our brains on how we want to make our house look dressed up and festive. Christmas is a very big and important occasion and season for us. As Catholics, we not only strive to prepare our hearts during the four weeks of advent but we take effort and pride in living out the tradition in more ways than one!

During Advent, the Church uses an Advent Wreath with four candles on the wreath where a candle is lit for each week during Advent leading up until Christmas Day. We too, decided to decorate our house with (especially the altar area) with candles.
Candles are a perfect way to provide ambiance to a living space. They not only provide warm light, but they also make the surrounding space feel cosy. We especially love scented candles as they fill the room with a beautiful aroma when being lit.

Fairy lights are also a wonderful way to add warmth to our living space. Lights during Christmas brings back a lot of fond memories of me as child where my mom would purchase strands and strands of it to line our front yard, doorway, Christmas Tree and living area. We always joke that our style of decoration is very “Italian”. I love being over-the-top with lights. They’re so magical!

I purchased some festive looking cushion covers during the recent 11/11 Lazada Sale. They aren’t the best quality but they’re a value option as they will not be displayed on my couch throughout the year.
Apart from hanging a wreath on our front door, we never miss the tradition of putting up the Nativity Set. The manger scene constantly reminds us the reason for the season.

We also included a basket with throws, rugs, santa and reindeer hats and all things festive for our guests to use and play with during our home Christmas Parties.
There’s no place else we’d rather be than at home, surrounded by family, friends and loved ones, during this festive time of the year.
