I FINISHED IT! – Product Empties

As I squeezed out the final remains of my product from the bottle or squirt cap, I felt an indescribable sense of euphoria. It is almost as if I checked off the last box in my to-do list and it somehow feels accomplishing. There are many beauty products that I receive so frequently and it is always very tempting to start on something new (like a new moisturiser or a new serum or a new lipstick) even though I still have an existing tub or tube sitting on my dresser. I speak for myself and many others, but it is true that we tend to get bored quickly of things, and we’re always looking for something brand new.

They say the name of the game is experimentation— constantly moving from one product to the next, trying to see what works and what doesn’t. But there are so good ol’ favourites that I have turned back to time and time again, always looking for more because I cannot live without.

So here are some of the products that have made it into that very list of “Product Empties” which I’m very excited to share:

1. Skin Inc My Daily Dose Serum

These serums have been my long time go-to product that helps to target specific skin concerns I have every now and then. I use the different serums and mix of serums depending on my needs and somehow, they seem to deplete ever so quickly. Serums especially run out really fast for me, as I tend to be very generous with them, slathering them all over my face and neck, and layering them one over another. My most usual skin concerns are dark spots and a lack of hydration, so I love serums that contain ingredients like Vitamin C and Hydraulic Acid to combat that. When (and if) breakouts occur, I do have some serums that I turn to that help to calm the skin like Vitamin B3+ and Licorice for sunburnt, red and inflamed skin. I really love to personalise my skin care and skin inc is definitely my go-to brand for that.

2. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II

This product is no stranger to the blog. I have raved about this product multiple times and it has been a long time constant in my skin care routine. The ANR is specifically formulated to support the skin’s natural night-time repair process through deep hydration. It helps my skin feel supple, more youthful looking and definitely more hydrated. I use this consistently as a part of my day/night routine but I’ve stopped recently since getting pregnant as I find it a little too strong for me. I will definitely consider going back to my trusty ANR after popping!

3. Lancome Genifique Advanced Youth Activating Concentrate

The most sought after serum in the beauty market, and for all the right reasons! This serum has been nicknamed by me as my “maintenance serum”. It is a powerful anti-aging serum that restores youth as promised and intensely hydrates and improves radiance, elasticity, firmness, skin tone, and smoothness. I attribute the maintenance of my healthy and glowy skin to this. I’ve been using bottle after bottle and I love what it does for me every single time.

4. Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

This product is highly popular as a sleeping/leave on mask and especially suitable for people with oily skin. I was first introduced to Laneige by my very hip and into-skincare-grandmother. She always asks me to grab a few tubs of sleeping mask for her whenever I visit Seoul. I decided to put it to the test recently and I found myself loving how comforting it feels on my skin. My biggest concern with leave-on sleeping masks is that it leaves traces onto my pillow case but this mask absorbs into the skin almost immediately and sometimes doubles up as a heavy duty moisturiser. It definitely does what it promises — to deliver moisture, keep the skin hydrated and supple. I go to sleep with it while it works its magic overnight! I really love this sleeping mask but I have a few other tubs of sleeping masks with the same uses that I want to finish using before deciding to get more of this!

5. Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask

A three-in-one mask that can be used to as a deep cleanser, improve impurities to prevent clogged pores, or use it to spot treat imperfections because of the centuries-old Umbrian clay ingredient found in the mask. The Umbrian clay contains high-mineral content that works to help balance, purify, and clarify facial complexion! I like to use this mask and leave it on for 3 to 5 minutes before rinsing it off, and this is my version of deep cleansing. If I do happen to have some troubled spots, I will use a tiny bit of the product and leave it on the spot for a few minutes and it will really help to kill the bacteria and dry out that zit! This product runs out fast because my entire family (especially my adolescent siblings) always ask for it. It almost acts like a pimple/spot treatment mask for them too and it works wonders!

6. Fresh Sugar Face Polish

My favourite face scrub that buffs and hydrates with real brown sugar and strawberries. This scrub contains hydrating and nourishing properties which is great for my skin. It was a love at first use and I am big on exfoliating my face! What I love about this face scrub is that it is really gentle on the skin and that is actually the most important consideration for me when choosing a face scrub. I have used scrubs that are really harsh, and while it did it’s job of exfoliating, my skin felt tight and very uncomfortable after use. This sugar face polish is extremely comfortable and gentle and by far one of my favourite exfoliating masks in the market to date.

7. Clarins Huile Tonic Body Treatment Oil

Ever since getting pregnant, I have taken extra precautions to prevent stretch marks! I have heard so many raving reviews about the Clarins Huile Tonic Body Treatment Oil as it contains 100% pure and powerful plant extracts which helps firm, tone and improve elasticity. I actually got the entire set because I wanted to try the full range of products, so I ended up using not just the tonic oil but the stretch mark cream and the exfoliator as well. I’ve made this a part of my day and night routine and I cannot believe I’ve actually already completed more than 2 bottles (of each) to date! I just got my third set and I will most definitely continue using this all the way till post-pregnancy!

8. Clarins Stretch Mark Control Cream

The Clarins Stretch Mark Control Cream is my go-to product in the day and while the Clarins Huile Tonic Body Treatment Oil is used at night. The body cream is easy to use and it is easily absorbed by the body. It not only provides additional moisture to the skin but it keeps it supple and firm, and it helps build the skin’s elasticity in the areas around my tummy, thighs, butt and breasts! I highly recommended investing in a good stretch mark control cream to all expecting mummies as prevention is always better than cure!
