The jitters are real with the countdown now standing at 2 days.
The last 2 weeks have been a blur, trying to shorten our never ending to-do list and all the last minute wedding prep. That aside, I am so thankful to my bridesmaids for slogging it out with me and lending a hand wherever they can. Be it our wedding cards or other errands, they have been so patient – willingly and selflessly devoting their energy and time – all to make sure I have the best wedding. I am immensely blessed to have these girls in this journey with me, and thought it would be nice for all of us (although Nat wasn’t able to make it) to go for a pampering session at The Ritz-Carlton Spa.
The moment you walk through the doors, you will find yourself in a serene setting with sounds of trickling water. Prior to each treatment, the therapist guided us in a breathing exercise by placing conch shells next to our ears, immersing us in the sounds of the sea to help us relax. It was honestly hard for me to switch off work mode as there were a million other things on my mind, but this exercise really helped ease me into the full hour of massage and relaxation. James, on the other hand, concussed even before the massage started. I think he must have been really sleep deprived.
The massage was a pleasant respite for every single one of us, especially when everyone has their own busy schedules as working adults and as students. Sometimes, all it takes is for us to set aside time to just pamper ourselves and do something nice for our bodies. A massage helps to decrease stress (much needed for me), promote muscle relaxation and improve sleep quality.
I have been looking forward to this for weeks and my only wish was that it could have lasted longer.
The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Singapore is also the first hotel in Asia Pacific to partner with La Mer. We were treated to the indulgent La Mer Purifying Facial and my girlfriends have nothing but praises for it. La Mer products are known to be very rejuvenating so your skin will definitely be grateful! They were all glowing after the facial.
Next, we headed to Le Salon Rose within The Ritz-Carlton Spa, which provides personalised beauty services. Here, we were treated to a regenerative nail treatment (L’ongle) and manicure (La Couleur). Could not have been timelier! If your wedding is days away and you find it hard to squeeze time for separate beauty treatments, do them all in half a day as part of the Ritz-Carlton Spa’s “Spa-rties” package.
The “Spa-rties” package included a 3-course set lunch by the pool, but Sharon and Nicole from The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore went miles further. The lunch area was painstakingly decorated with honeycomb balls and balloons. We were served a spa-themed menu that was tailored to our “wedding waistline” diet – a salad for the appetiser, a super delicious pan-seared salmon as the main course, and an apple crumble to end on a sweet note. The Ritz-Carlton team also prepared macarons specially piped with James’ and my initials, along with an exquisitely designed 2-tier cake with flower fondants! Too bad our stomachs were already filled by then so I brought the cake with me to my choir dinner that same evening and everyone who tried the cake was in full praise of it.
My heart is filled with so much gratitude. Sharon and Nicole have both been extremely accommodating and generous throughout my wedding journey and I am so thankful for this work-turned-friendship. They were also the ones who suggested the bridal “Spa-rties” as part of my wedding journey. I think they know how little rest I’ve been getting and how much I’ve been craving for a relaxing massage. My girlfriends and I left feeling satisfied and recharged for the wedding.
Brides-to-be who are still thinking about your hen’s night, why not glam it up and go for a “Spa-rty” with your bridesmaids/girlfriends instead?
