These were some of my favourite days in Bali– James and I decided to take some time off work to travel, unwind, recharge and spend some well-deserved quality time with each other. I’m so happy to have had so many precious and beautiful moments captured on film, and I’m even more delighted to be able to document them in this space for keeps. I hope you find my little travelogue inspiring and useful when planning your next adventure. I highly recommend that you explore North Bali!
We stayed at Munduk Moding Plantation for the initial part of the trip before moving to Kamandalu Resort and Hotel in Ubud. Both properties were uniquely beautiful and had so much to offer. In fact, we spent a significant amount of time in the resort(s). The hotel arranged for us a day tour to explore the areas of interest in the vicinity.
From Munduk Moding Plantation, we visited their home-grown plantation, Hydrangea flower fields, Marigold flower farm, Banyumala Twin Waterfalls, the famous Handara Gate and Wanagiri Hidden Hills.
From Kamandalu, we took their shuttle bus to the nearby Ubud Market for some good local shopping and dinner.
I decided to journal the trip with the 1:1 square format instax SQUARE 6 as I not only wanted to capture the stunning landscapes but also the real-time expressions and moments shared between James and I.
Honestly, we always are in a dilemma between a portrait or landscape format. So I guess, the square format is a good compromise between the two.
I also absolutely love that my instax had an AUTOMATIC exposure control function, which allowed me to shoot at any lighting without fussing over the right settings. This allowed me to capture the moments real time.
The selfie mode was also of great use to us. We had a tiny mirror next to the lens that helped us to ensure that we had the perfect framing before snapping.
North Bali has so much to offer– from the awe-inspiring landscapes to the less-travelled-to waterfalls, gorgeous sunsets and sunrise and nice cooling weather. Not to mention, the star-filled night sky that left us lost for words. It was a pity that we could not stay for much longer.
The few days we had there were a great opportunity for James and I to take it slow and fully embrace in the here and now. There were so many unforgettable moments that we still laugh over and speak of fondly today.
I’m so glad for my INSTAX SQ 6 to accompany me through all the various experiences. With all it’s functions, it really does make a wonderful travel companion. Plus, we not only have wonderful memories to bring home, experiences and stories to tell, but these beautiful printed films to document and share them with our friends and family.
They printed films are now sitting pretty on my wall in front of my desk. What a truly great way to reminisce!
