Look no further because we will be sharing with you where you can find the BEST Samgyetang (Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup) in this blog post. Samgyetang is one of the well-loved delicacies to have and if you are travelling to South Korea, this should be right at the top of your must-try food list!
Tosokchon Samgyetang is known for having the best Ginseng Chicken Soup in Seoul. It is a stone’s throw away from the Gyeongbokgung Palace and is easily accessible because of its prime location. Long queues could be seen snaking around outside the restaurant, but due to its large seating space, the waiting time was only 5 to 10 minutes!
Tip: If you wish to avoid the queue, the best time to visit would be either an hour before lunch time or an hour after lunch time.
When you enter Tosokchon, you’d see that there are many traditional elements – design (looks like a traditional Korean house), seating (traditional Korean style tables), layout and ambiance incorporated into the restaurant as they have been in business since 1983.
We ordered the best-selling Samgyetang when we were there and it certainly did not disappoint!
Samgyetang is made of a whole small chicken stuffed with several tonic nourishing ingredients such as ginseng, garlic, jujube, peeled chestnuts and glutinous rice in steaming hot ginseng broth. After eating the meat, the rice can be enjoyed as a porridge (soup rice consistency).
Not only is it delicious, it is packed with an abundance of health benefits as the ginseng broth is boiled for hours and contains the highest level of nutrients. It helps to detoxify the body, quench thirst and protects lungs that are likely to be weakened by low energy levels.
Make sure to add this one on your list, we promise you would not be disappointed! 😊
