Travelling out of Singapore’s hot and humid tropical climate to a cold and freezing one can be harsh on our skin. My skin tends to be more dry and flaky in the colder climates, thus the winter season calls for a winter skincare regime! I was in Switzerland for my dearest friend, Jessica’s, wedding just last month and more recently, in New York City for fashion week. I brought a few of my holy grail winter skincare essentials over and this is my current go-to list that I want to share!
Here are a few of my winter skincare essentials that you should add to your skincare collection for the winter to avoid dry skin!
1. L’Occitane Aqua Reotier Water Gel Cleanser
To beat the cold and dry winter season, opt for a water gel cleanser that instantly calms your skin and prevents any itching or tightness from dryness!
2. Kanebo First Serum
The First Serum in my skincare that helps provides hydration, boost radiance and helps increase the efficacy of all the other serums that I am going to layer.
3. L’Occitane Immortelle Reset Serum
This Reset Serum will leave you with skin that looks rested, fresh, more youthful and radiant. It contains oils that is perfect for your skin when under harsh and stressful conditions.
4. Lancome Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate Serum
This is my “maintanence” serum. I never go without it as it helps to restore my skin’s radiance, reduce the appearance of fine-lines and wrinkles and maintain clarity.
5. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II
This is my go-to product in all seasons as it helps to ensure that my skin stays hydrated and maintains my skin in tip-top condition!
6. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex
This eye cream not only reduce fine lines but provides extra moisture and blocks out blue light which causes pre-mature ageing.
7. L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching
This calms and nourishes irritated and red skin from the harsh winter weather! I use it as a moisturiser to lock in all the goodness (i.e. serums) that I’ve applied on before this.
Apart from this daily/night routine, I also love masking (once every two days or as much as time permits). I will be sharing my favourite go-to hydrating masks in an upcoming post!
As the weather can get really dry, remember to hydrate from within. Eating foods high in water content can help hydrate your skin from the inside out. Try eating lots of fruits and juices like watermelon, cantaloupe, apples, oranges, kiwi, coconut, and vegetables like celery, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and carrots. Make sure you’re getting enough vitamin C and zinc to support the healthy production of collagen and elastin. Other supplements that are great for the skin are Omega-3, fish oil and flaxseed!
Last and final tip: Wash your face in luke warm water and put on skincare immediately after cleansing (while your pores are open) and your skin is damp! Damn skin helps to lock in moisture better.
May no harsh weather affect the suppleness and softness of your skin! ♥
